NEW PORT RICHEY
Man gets 25 years in attempted murder
David Gagne, charged in a 2008 attempted murder at a Holiday beverage store, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Gagne, 19, pleaded guilty in February to charges of attempted murder, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Authorities said he and two other men lured Bryan David Burke, then 18, to the A-1 Beverage store on Moog Road on Dec. 23, 2008, with the intention of robbing him. When Burke got there, the men began breaking his car windows and shooting into his car, authorities said.
Burke, who had two other people in the car with him, was shot in the chest and the left arm. He has recovered from his injuries.
Michael Phillips, 20, of New Port Richey pleaded guilty to attempted robbery in June and was sentenced to 18 months in prison, prosecutors said. The third man charged, Pedro Rodriguez, 20, of Port Richey also received 18 months in prison for attempted robbery.
LAND O'LAKES
Authorities: Woman stole sales tax money
The vice president of a farming supply company is accused of pocketing more than $16,000 in sales tax revenue.
Casie L. Holloway, 41, of Land O'Lakes was arrested Sept. 2 and charged with theft of state funds. The Florida Department of Revenue said Holloway didn't submit the sales tax money "during various periods" in 2009 and 2010. The agency said Holloway works at J.W. Holloway Inc., a farming supply business with locations in Land O'Lakes and Dade City.
Holloway was released from the Pasco County jail on $5,000 bail the same day she was arrested.
