TAMPA — Firefighters responded to a fire at a day care early Thursday, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.
No one was injured.
Crews received a call at the St. Matthew Child Development Center, 3716 E Lake Ave., around 6:30 a.m.
Water from a sprinkler kept the fire in check and fire crews were able to put the flames out within a few minutes.
The fire was caused by heat from a glue gun that was left on and plugged in.
The building had moderate damage, mostly from smoke and water. No damage estimate was immediately available.
The day care is making alternate plans for taking care of the children as the building is cleaned and repaired.
