BROOKSVILLE - Hernando County Administrator David Hamilton was issued a citation for careless driving after a minor accident on Aug. 27.
Hamilton said he was waiting at the intersection of Mildred and Jefferson streets when he reached in the back seat for his satchel and his foot slipped off the brake. He rolled forward into the car in front of him causing bumper damage to the other car. His county vehicle sustained no significant damage.
Hamilton was drug tested after the accident, which is required by county policy, and his test was clean. "Lesson learned,'' Hamilton said of the incident noting he would pay his $149 fine and attend traffic school. "I am going to be a much more careful driver.''
