Season tickets available for Community Performing Arts Guild's 2010-2011 Concert Series

SPRING HILL

Become church series season ticket holder

Season tickets are still available for the Community Performing Arts Guild's 2010-2011 Concert Series.

The series at Mariner United Methodist Church, 7079 Mariner Blvd., includes six concerts, plus one concert for subscribers only.

Subscribers choose from a 2 or 7 p.m. performance and are guaranteed a seat in the center section.

Season tickets are $60; the deadline for purchase is Sept. 30. Call (352) 544-1068 or (352) 597-1703 for information. Checks made payable to CPAG may be mailed or delivered to Mariner United Methodist Church, 7079 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill, FL 34609, with name, address and number of tickets wanted, and preferred performance time.

Concerts include:

Nov. 13: Jimmy Travis, comedy and music from the main showrooms of Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe and Branson, Mo.

Dec. 11: James Rogers Holiday Show.

Jan. 15: Mac Frampton on piano.

Jan. 29: The Diamonds, successors to the 1950s group that sang Silhouettes, The Stroll and other favorites. This concert is for subscribers only.

Feb. 12: 42Five (pronounced four to five), a five-member a cappella group that makes the sounds of all musical instruments as the quintet sings rock, funk, jazz, blues, gospel, country and classics.

Feb. 26: Let's Hang On, a 10-member group doing the songs of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons.

March 12: Fernando Varela, "the Puerto Rican Pavarotti," who has performed in 24 countries.

Sponsor, celebrate Christian academy's 30 years

A "Legacy Dinner and Auction" to celebrate Hernando Christian Academy's 30th anniversary will be at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the school, 7200 Emerson Road.

Sponsorships are available: Table sponsorships are $400 and include eight seats, priority table assignment, the name or corporation listed in the program and on the school website, and express checkout for auction purchases; presenting sponsorships are $1,000 and include two tables (16 seats) front and center at the event, signage on the table, listing on the program and school website, and express checkout for auction purchases.

SPRING HILL

Seniors, find out how to improve financial position

The United Way of Hernando County, in partnership with CredAbility, will offer "Facing Financial Challenges," a financial workshop designed to educate seniors facing financial challenges or seeking to improve their financial position. It will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 17 at the Spring Hill Branch/Harold G. Zopp Memorial Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive.

Topics include making sense of financial planning, parts of a financial plan, options and risks of a reverse mortgage, and advantages of a reverse mortgage.
