Dr. Luis Annoni, cardiac electrophysiologist at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, was the featured speaker at a lecture given Sept. 7 at the hospital, 14000 Fivay Road, Hudson.

The topic was "Atrial Fibrillation — Treatment for Irregular Heart Rhythm," and Annoni discussed minimally invasive options.

Dr. David Kimmel of the Florida Center for Laser Dentistry, 12124 Cobblestone Drive, Bayonet Point, and Dr. Raymond Yukna of Colorado recently instructed periodontists on how to accurately and effectively perform the laser gum treatment LANAP (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure).

Periodontists, who are gum specialists, traveled from around the country to the University of Denver so that Kimmel and Yukna could train them using this therapy. Kimmel has been using LANAP for seven years.

A fashion show and luncheon fundraiser presented by Dillard's will begin at 10 a.m. today at Seven Springs Golf & Country Club, 3535 Trophy Blvd., New Port Richey.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Calusa Business & Professional Women's scholarship program. The guest will be Bay News 9 reporter Melanie Snow. Two auctions (live and silent) will be held.

BPW/Calusa is an alliance of local business, professional and retired men and women dedicated to improving the professional, personal and economic outlook for the business community and the community at large.

Mike Kouremetis, a SCORE counselor, will present the seminar. He will highlight how to install the QuickBooks automated record-keeping system, opening entries for a business, entering deposits and writing checks, and much more.

The Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce will hold its inaugural Pigz in Z'Hills event, a backyard and professional barbecue cookoff competition and blues festival, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at Krusen Field, 4626 Krusen Field Road at 20th Street and Alston Avenue, Zephyrhills.

Admission will be $3 for adults; children 12 and under will get in free. The event will include barbecued food, live blues music, an antique car show, children's activities and games, vendors and more.
