'Special needs' cats available for adoption

As part of Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet Month, Home at Last Pet Adoptions will have "special needs" cats and kittens, as well as other felines, available for adoption from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today and every Saturday in September at Petco, 7223 Coastal Blvd. Among pets on hand will be Scarlett, a Siamese kitten with a neurological disorder that causes her to be "wobbly"; and Miss Kitty, a 3-year-old long-haired black and white tuxedo whose leg was crushed and amputated. Pets can be seen online at halpetadoptions.petfinder.com and can be brought to one of the adopt-a-thons; appointments can also be set. Impersonators in Elvis showdown

"The Match of the Decade — Kenn 'E' Grube and Bill Lindsey Present Elvis" will be at 7 tonight at VFW Post 10209, 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive, Spring Hill. This is a battle between two Elvis impersonators. Food and beverages will be available. A portion of proceeds will go to Gifts from Home to benefit troops serving overseas. Tickets are $10. Volunteers needed to tidy cemetery

The Spring Hill African-American Cemetery Cleanup is from 8 a.m.-noon today. The cemetery is at 8580 Fort Dade Ave., west of Brooksville. Volunteers are needed for the annual cleanup of the nonprofit community cemetery. Helpers should bring their own tools, such as chippers, brush hogs, machetes, hatchets, axes, rakes, chain saws and lawn mowers. For information, call Alice Walker, (352) 796-1283.
