ST. PETERSBURG — A man driving the wrong way on Interstate 375 at 3 a.m. Saturday was killed when he crashed head-on into another car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The driver of the other car was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in critical condition.
Manny Nikias, 45, of Ellenton, drove his 2002 Lexus sedan westbound in the eastbound lanes of the interstate, crashing into the other vehicle near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in St. Petersburg, the FHP said. The other car — a 2007 Lexus IS-350 driven by Virgilio Floresca, 32, of Pinellas Park — was in the eastbound lane when the crash happened, according to a report.
Neither driver wore a seat belt, according to FHP. Nikias was pronounced dead at the scene.
