Pasco County operates seven congregate dining centers for adults ages 60 and older, funded in part by the Older Americans Act. There is no charge for the meals, but donations are encouraged. The county also delivers meals to homes of the elderly through two programs: The Elderly Nutrition Program, also funded in part by the Older Americans Act, delivers meals at no charge, but donations are encouraged. The Meals on Wheels program requires a registration fee and a $5 fee per meal. Monday: Chopped Southern barbecue chicken, mixed vegetables, potatoes au gratin, hamburger bun, fresh orange and low-fat milk.
Tuesday: Italian-style meatballs, pasta with tomato sauce, broccoli cuts, whole wheat bread with margarine, apple-raisin crisp and low-fat milk.
Wednesday: Sliced baked ham with pineapple glaze, mashed potatoes, peas with pearl onions, whole wheat bread, cake and ice cream (pudding for home delivery) and low-fat milk.
Thursday: Three-bean beef chili, white rice, whole kernel corn, corn bread with margarine, mixed fruit and low-fat milk.
Friday: Mandarin chicken, gingered carrots, green beans with almonds, dinner roll, fresh fruit and low-fat milk.
