ST. PETERSBURG — A 27-year-old St. Petersburg man died Saturday night after his motorcycle crashed on Interstate 275.
The accident occurred about 11:35 a.m. on Saturday, just south of Roosevelt Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Gerd Christopher Nichols was heading north on the interstate when he lost control of his 2004 Kawasaki, hit a guardrail and was thrown from the motorcycle. He was transported by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center. Hospital officials confirmed his death Sunday morning. Nichols was wearing a helmet, according to the FHP.
