PALM HARBOR — The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who robbed a convenience store early Sunday.

Deputies said the man walked into the Circle K at 3470 East Lake Road at 12:05 a.m. He told the clerk he was robbing the store and demanded that all the Newport brand cigarettes be put in a plastic bag, deputies said.

The man lifted his shirt to show the clerk a handgun tucked in his waistband. After he received the cigarettes, the man ordered the clerk to lock himself in the store's beverage cooler. The man then left on foot.

The suspect is described as white, in his late 20s, 6 feet tall, 210 pounds, and was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt with a boating or beach scene on it, possibly spelling "Venice." He was also wearing black baggy jeans, a black baseball cap and black sneakers.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the man's identity to call Detective Jeff Capra at (727) 582-6200, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477, or provide a tip online at www.crimestoppersofpinellas.org.
