SEFFNER — Troopers say a person was hit and killed after sitting in the roadway on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on Monday night.
The person, whose name and gender were not released, sat in the street at Highview Road when a westbound 1987 Mercedes-Benz 190E drove into the intersection, according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The driver, 29-year-old Daniel B. Ruddell of Dover, swerved to avoid the pedestrian but hit the person with the front corner.
Rescuers took the pedestrian to Tampa General Hospital where the person died.
Neither Ruddell nor his passenger were injured. No charges have been filed.
