Share ideas for making city a greener place

The city is inviting residents and businesses to an open house Tuesday to talk about ways to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gases in Clearwater. It will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Aging Well Center at the Long Center, 1501 N Belcher Road. This is part of Clearwater Greenprint, an initiative that focuses on improving Clearwater's sustainability. A 21-member steering committee has been brainstorming ideas with city officials. The project, funded by a $350,000 federal grant, was prompted by a state growth management law calling for energy-efficiency policies in comprehensive plans. "We need community input," said project manager Lauren Matzke. "This is our first chance to say, 'What do you think? Are we on the right track?' " For information, visit www.myclearwater.com/greenprint or www.myclearwater.com/green. Residents can also e-mail lauren.matzke@my clearwater.com or call her at (727) 562-4547.
