TAMPA — A tree-trimmer died Saturday after getting tangled in a rope being fed into a wood chipper.
The incident happened while a five-man crew was trimming branches at 12911 Golf Crest Trail at 3:30 p.m., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
The worker was feeding branches into the running wood chipper when he got caught in a rope entwined in the branches. As he fought being pulled into the machine, the force of the rope pulling into the wood chipper killed him, deputies said. The man never went inside the machine.
Deputies have not identified the victim.
