TAMPA — The intersection of Spruce Street and Himes Avenue reopened Sunday afternoon after a five-vehicle crash caused traffic backups for football fans headed to Raymond James Stadium.

At about 11 a.m., traffic was being rerouted to Chestnut Street and police were advising traffic heading to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game to use either the Armenia Avenue or the Dale Mabry Highway exit on Interstate 275 instead of the one at Himes Avenue.

Details of the crash were not yet available, but police said it involved serious injuries.
