KENNETH CITY — A 42-year-old woman was arrested early Thursday morning after police said she stabbed her live-in girlfriend.

The victim told Jacqueline Louise Lowery she was leaving her, according to Kenneth City police, and begged Lowery not to hurt her.

But Lowery told the victim that "if she can't have her then nobody can," before plunging a 7-inch knife into the victim's abdomen and then pulled it sideways across her body, police said.

The victim was rushed to a hospital for emergency surgery and is expected to recover, according to Kenneth City police.

The stabbing happened at 6:40 a.m. at the 5700 block of 58th Way N. Lowery and the victim lived there as a couple, police said.

But when the victim tried to end their relationship, Lowery became violent, police said. An unidentified witness heard Lowery threaten the victim, and the victim plead with Lowery.

"Put the knife away," police said the victim told her, "and don't kill me."

Then Lowery stabbed the victim and cut her in a manner, police said, that "attempted to inflict death" on the victim and caused a "massive injury."

Lowery was arrested on charges of attempted murder and domestic aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She was being held without bond Thursday afternoon in the Pinellas County jail.
