Monster Auto Show to Benefit Local Charities
The Monster Auto Show and Children's Charity Event will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 Broad St., Brooksville. It features the Monster Transmission and Performance Car, Truck and Bike Show; an all-day truck pull; a truck tug-of-war; live music; vendors; a petting zoo; face painting; games; and other children's activities. A fireworks display will start at dusk, about 8 p.m. Funds raised will benefit various children's charities, including the Florida Children's Home Society and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. WEEKI WACHEE
Peace group plans to stage protest
The NatureCoast Coalition for Peace and Justice will have a demonstration from 10 to 11:30 a.m. today at Cortez Boulevard and Commercial Way, across from Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. The demonstration is to protest recent FBI raids of various antiwar groups in Minnesota, Illinois and North Carolina, as well as to protest the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
