In Saturday's Times, I read about Hillsborough County Commissioner Jim Norman finally admitting most of the money used to purchase that $485,000 Arkansas lakefront home came from the late political power broker Ralph Hughes.
But I actually saw the story earlier this week when I went to the deli to buy Swiss cheese.
The explanation had so many holes it's difficult to envision how he survives, but the question now becomes how long the Salvation Army keeps Norman on the payroll as a $95,000-a-year community liaison. The nonprofit group's sterling reputation remains at risk as long as Norman draws a salary. …
