ZEPHYRHILLS — Florida Hospital Zephyrhills recently turned to a team of composed entirely of board-certified doctors to staff its emergency department that includes The physicians, part of a group called Florida Emergency Physicians, deliver emergency care to more than 400,000 patients each year in the Florida Hospital system.
"We selected Florida Emergency Physicians because of their patient-first focus, national recognition for quality and commitment to Florida Hospital's mission," said Doug Duffield, president & CEO of Florida Hospital Zephyrhills.
Under FEP's leadership, HealthGrades awarded the Emergency Department Excellence Award in 2010 to Florida Hospital's Emergency Department system in metropolitan Orlando, placing it in the top 5 percent of emergency departments in the nation.
"It's extraordinary that a community hospital is able to ensure that its Emergency Department patients are seen by the physician within 30 minutes, 91 percent of the time," said Ramon Nunez, medical director of FEP. "This is what patients deserve and need. This commitment to the patient is in line with our mission. We look forward to becoming active members in this community."
