A semitrailer truck flipped and caught fire on Trapnell Road at Highway 39 in Plant City early Wednesday, killing the driver.
PLANT CITY — A semitrailer truck driver was killed early Wednesday after the vehicle struck a concrete pole, flipped and caught fire, according to Plant City police.
The crash happened just before around 12:15 a.m. near Trapnell Road and Highway 39.
The truck was carrying fertilizer, and some of the contents caught fire and spilled on the road. The 60-year-old driver, Gerry Dale Adams, veered off the road after having a medical issue, officials said.
Officials said the road will be blocked for several hours.
Adams was driving for Marki Mason Transport.
