ST. PETERSBURG — Police are investigating a shooting incident Wednesday afternoon that left a 20-year-old man wounded just a few blocks west of a packed Tropicana Field.
The incident was reported around 2:40 p.m. along the 2500 block of Third Avenue S, according to St. Petersburg police.
There are reports that multiple gunshots were fired in the area and police said they have found several spent shell casings.
The young man who was shot suffered non life-threatening wounds to the hip and hand, police said. He was taken to a local hospital. There was no indication that anyone else was injured in the incident, police said.
St. Petersburg police are on scene investigating the incident.
