2 sites open today for Last of early voting

Today is the last day for early voting for Hernando County primary elections, which will be Tuesday. Those wishing to vote today instead of Tuesday can do so from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hernando County Supervisor of Elections offices at Room 165, Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St., Brooksville, and at the Westside Government Center at 7443 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. A photo and signature ID is required. A link to sample ballots is available at hernandovotes.com.

Ministry plans free clothing offering

Second Chance Restoration Ministries hosts "Free Day" starting at 10 a.m. today at 19235 Cortez Blvd., in Killingsworth Plaza. There will be a giveaway of clothing, school uniforms, shoes, toys, electronics and more. Call (352) 585-6083.

WEEKI WACHEE

Benefit features a host of activities

A Splash Bash benefit for Habitat for Humanity will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Buccaneer Bay at Weeki Wachee Springs, 6131 Commercial Way. The family event includes a celebrity cookoff, cannonball contest, horseshoe tournament, celebrity volleyball and the Weeki Wachee mermaids. Buccaneer Bay has water slides, a beach area and kiddie pools. Funds raised will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Hernando County. SPRING Hill

County offers dog obedience classes

Hernando County Recreation will offer its elementary school for dogs at 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, starting Aug. 28, at Rotary Centennial Park, 10375 Sandlor St. This is a six-week session for dogs 4 months and older. The class focuses on obedience, with 16 commands and combinations, leadership, communication, pack order and more. The cost is $95. Also, puppy kindergarten for dogs 8 months and younger will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturdays, starting Sept. 18. This is a three-week program that teachers owners the fundamentals of owning a puppy or dog. The cost is $40. Advance registration is required for both classes.
