Voting by mail? Request ballot by Wednesday
Election season is here. If you're planning to skip the voting booth and get a vote-by-mail ballot, Wednesday is the last day to request a ballot from the Supervisor of Elections. Ballots also may be picked up at the four Supervisor of Elections offices in the county. All completed ballots must be returned to the elections offices by 7 p.m. Aug. 24. They can be hand-delivered until 7 p.m. or mailed in advance. They cannot be turned in at the polls. Paw in the Park set for Sept. 25
Paws in the Park, a free event that raises money and awareness for Spay Pasco, will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at San Antonio Park, 12750 Oak St. Activities will include an agility course for dogs, a pet costume contest, "tail painting," lure coursing, a dancing dog demonstration, face painting for the children, vendors selling animal-related products and services, music, entertainment and refreshments. Several animal rescue groups will showcase adoptable pets, and a "Blessing of the Pets" will be provided. Admission and parking are free; all proceeds from the day's activities will go toward helping local residents with the spaying and neutering of dogs and cats, to prevent the euthanasia of unwanted animals.
