SEFFNER — A middle school teacher died Monday in a three-way crash at Highway 579 and Pruett Road, deputies said.
James Pope, a Greco Middle School teacher, was driving north on Highway 579 about 8 a.m. when Virginia Fleming, 67, did not stop at a stop sign on Pruett Road, the Sheriff's Office said.
Fleming, driving a Buick, hit the his Fort Fusion on the passenger side. The collision turned the car around, and a Ford F-150 traveling south on Highway 579 hit Pope's car, this time on the driver's side.
Mark Knowlton, 41, is a Gator Ford mechanic who was test driving the Ford F-150.
Deputies said Pope, 33, died at the scene from his injuries.
He taught eighth-grade social studies and U.S. history, the Greco school website shows.
