Brooksville

Accordion Adventure: "Oktoween" party/jam, 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Brooksville Elks Lodge, 14494 Cortez Blvd. This is an informal group of accordionists and enthusiasts. The public is welcome. Admission is $2. Cash bar available. Cathy, (352) 686-0975, or Peg, (352) 442-5574.

Chill Smart: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Harbor, 7074 Grove Road. This is the youth group of the Hernando County Community Anti-Drug Coalition, open to Hernando County middle and high school youth. The role of the group is to assist in planning and implementing strategies that target underage drinking, tobacco and drug use. (352) 596-8000.

New Jersey Club: Doors open at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Senior Citizens Club of Hernando County, 7925 Rhanbuoy Road. This will be the annual fall dinner, catered by La Fontana Restaurant. The menu includes barbecue ribs, wings with dipping sauce, fruit platter, veggie tray with dip, pizza rolls, meatballs and rolls, salad bar and other items. The cost is $8 for members, $9 for guests. There will be a Halloween costume contest. Bingo will be played. Bring a nonperishable food donation. Spring Hill Garden Club 'Night Bloomers': 7 p.m. today, club nursery, 1489 Parker Ave. This is the first meeting of the new division of the garden club. Those attending will receive advice about Florida gardening and learn about plants found in Florida. A workshop on propagation, conducted by Brian Feil, will take place in the greenhouse.
