LEALMAN — Authorities are seeking the public's help in identifying a man they say shot and injured a teen nearly a week ago.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday, authorities were notified of an incident near 54th Avenue N and 37th Street.
Deputies say an unknown man and a 16-year-old boy were talking when the man pulled out a gun. The teen started running away, and the man shot him. The victim then called friends, who took him to a hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.
Officials have been looking for the man ever since. They said he and the teen are acquainted and that he goes by the name "Papa."
The suspect is described as white, about 50 years old, 6 feet 6 and 250 pounds. He has white hair and a beard.
After the shooting, he drove away in a red, late 1970s or early 1980s Ford F-150 truck with no tailgate or front bumper.
Anyone with information is asked to call sheriff's Detective Dennis Garvey at (727) 582-6200 or Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-873-8477.
