Farm workers focus of 2-mile march today
The community will gather for the Tampa Bay Fair Food March, a 2-mile walk from Quiznos to the Greenwise Publix, to bring attention to unfair practices for Florida farm workers in conjunction with cities throughout the country staging their own walks. It begins at 5:30 p.m. today starting at Quiznos, 302 E Kennedy Blvd.

Inaugural Four Green Miles Run is Saturday
The Tampa Bay Runners Club hosts its first Four Green Miles Run. The event includes a 4-mile and 1-mile run followed by live music, free drinks, exhibits and food from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Al Lopez Park, 4810 N Himes Ave. The 4-mile run is $30 or $26 for a team and the 1-mile run is $10. Forgotten Children March is Saturday
The Forgotten Children March, led by the Rough Riders' Color Guard, covers 3/4 of a mile and will feature people in the community carrying life-size cutouts representing 800 children in need of guardians ad litem. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 700 N Ashley Drive. Entertainment, music, food and guest speakers will be in the park after the march. Class teaches you to take better portraits
Learn about posing, lighting and camera setup in "Creative Portrait Lighting Class and Family Portrait," from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, 200 N Tampa St. Participants can bring family members to create a portrait with the studio lights. Girls in need can get homecoming dresses
Two nonprofit organizations, Belle of the Ball Project and Dream a Dress, are providing homecoming dresses, shoes, purses, and accessories to in-need, low-income high school girls in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. Apply for program grant to fight obesity
UnitedHealth Group and Youth Service in America are sponsoring a "Health Heroes" program grant for Florida residents ages 5 to 25 to design antiobesity programs that will be implemented in their community. Applications for the grant are due by midnight Oct. 22. Learn more at ysa.org/heroes.
Free shots offered for adult cat adoptions
