TALLAHASSEE — Attorneys for Hillsborough County Commissioner Jim Norman and state Rep. Kevin Ambler, political rivals embroiled in a lawsuit, were still awaiting a judge's ruling late Wednesday.
Leon County Circuit Judge Jackie Fulford had called a recess to the trial shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, saying she had another trial scheduled Wednesday morning and would e-mail her ruling to the attorneys.
Ambler, who lost the Aug. 24 Republican primary for the District 12 state Senate seat to Norman, is seeking to have Norman removed from the ballot for the Nov. 2 general election.
Ambler alleges Norman failed to include an Arkansas real estate deal that involved millionaire businessman Ralph Hughes in his financial disclosure. Norman contends the deal was strictly between Hughes, who has died, and Norman's wife, Mearline.
