SAFETY HARBOR — An 18-month-old girl drowned after she made her way through a broken pool fence at her family's Safety Harbor home and fell into the water.
Muna Nam was found in the pool about 7:30 p.m. after she was briefly left unattended. The child was taken by ambulance to Mease Countryside Hospital. She was pronounced dead there at about 8:25 p.m., Pinellas sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies said friends and family were gathered at 2208 Hampstead Court to celebrate the infant's father's birthday.
"It appears the child then made her way out through a broken pool fence to the pool area and ended up in the water," according to a news release from the sheriff's office. "The child's father saw her in the pool, got her out of the water, administered CPR and called 911."
Deputies arrived at the house at 7:39 p.m. Sheriff's detectives said the family had recently moved to Florida from Oklahoma. Deputies said neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the incident and that the girl's death appears to be an accident. No charges have been filed.
