TARPON SPRINGS — A woman had to be flown to a hospital Saturday morning after being thrown and kicked by a horse, authorities said.
According to a preliminary investigation by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, two females were galloping on horses along a trail off Old Keystone Road at the Brooker Creek Preserve when one of the animals fell, throwing its rider.
Then, as the woman and horse tried to get up, the flailing animal kicked the woman.
She was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries, sheriff's Sgt. Tom Nestor said. Her name has not been released.
The other rider and horse were not injured.
