Stabins gets good news: He is cancer-free

County Commissioner Jeff Stabins got good news from his doctor late this week: Surgeries to remove malignant melanomas from his chest were successful and he is cancer-free. In a note to the readers of his blog about his dog Rusty, he states that a friend who is a doctor jokingly commented that while "I was suffering from melanoma, all my friends were suffering with my meladroma." Stabins announced his diagnosis two weeks ago and encouraged people to learn from his experience that overexposure to the sun can lead to deadly skin cancer.
