TOWN 'N COUNTRY — Even with a sword and a gun, a would-be robber failed to get valuables when he confronted three people Sunday morning.
A man described as being in his 20s or 30s put a sword to the throat of the first victim and demanded money as they stood near trash bins at Beacon Isles Apartments, 6210 Sheldon Road, at about 3:30 a.m., said Deputy Larry McKinnon, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.
When the suspect didn't get any, he went to a second victim in the parking lot, raised his shirt to show a small-caliber handgun and demanded the victim's keys, McKinnon said.
That robbery attempt was foiled when a person sleeping in a car nearby, who thought the commotion was an argument, shouted at the two to be quiet or he would call 911.
The suspect then headed to an open window of that third victim's car and stuck his sword through it, stabbing the man and causing minor cuts on his shoulder, arm and palm, McKinnon said.
The suspect then fled.
