BROOKSVILLE — When the deputy's Taser failed to fire, William Dowell asked, "Is that all you got?" The answer came a moment later when the deputy pulled the trigger again and the probes hit Dowell in the back, authorities said.
Hernando County sheriff's deputies responding to a domestic battery complaint Sunday on Whipperwill Street found Dowell, 30, and his girlfriend, who had a bruised eye and bleeding and swollen mouth, according to an arrest report.
Dowell, who was intoxicated and bleeding from the hand, told deputies to "just put the cuffs on me," but as deputies grabbed his arm, he struggled, the report states.
A deputy pointed a Taser between Dowell's shoulder blades and warned him not to move. When Dowell continued to struggle, the deputy tried to deploy the Taser but the cartridge did not release at first, the report shows. Seconds later, the probes hit Dowell, and he hit his knees.
Dowell was arrested on charges of domestic battery and resisting officers without violence.
