Firefighters to wear pink for cancer fight
The employees at Clearwater Fire Rescue and East Lake Fire Rescue have joined forces to support the fight against breast cancer. The firefighters started wearing pink T-shirts Tuesday that state "Clearwater for a Cure,'' and "East Lake for a Cure,'' respectively. They also will wear the shirts today and Thursday. The T-shirt was designed by John Klinefelter of Clearwater Fire & Rescue. Shaun Pisel, an East Lake firefighter-paramedic, coordinated East Lake's participation. Proceeds from T-shirt sales between the two departments will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Dentist offers cash for candy buyback
The office of Dr. James Pitts will hold "Halloween Candy Buy Back Day,'' from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday. For the third year, the dentist's office at 2213 Curlew Road, Dunedin, invites kids to bring in their leftover Halloween treats. He will pay $1 per pound of candy up to 20 pounds. Hospice arts and crafts show Nov. 6
Suncoast Hospice is hosting its fourth annual Arts & Crafts Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 6 at its Clearwater campus, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd. Along with arts and crafts vendors, a professional photographer will take keepsake family and pet photos. Sign up kids now for archery camp
Palm Harbor Parks and Recreation will hold an archery camp for children ages 8-14 from Nov. 22 to 24 at the Sunderman Recreation Complex, 1631 Ninth St. Participants will learn the proper techniques of archery, including shooting a bow and arrow, holding the bow, care of the bow and arrow, stance and safety. Dan McKeag, a certified archery instructor with 23 years of experience, will teach the course. Camp times are 9-10:10 a.m. for ages 8-10; 10:15-11:25 a.m. for ages 10-14. Volunteers needed to call lonely folks
The Palm Harbor Telephone Friends program needs volunteers to make calls to those who would like to talk with someone on a regular basis. Volunteers make the local calls either from the Palm Harbor Community Activity Center, 1500 16th St., or from their home. For details, call (727) 771-6000.
