Better for Alex Sink to admit she peeked, then move on

The cover up always seems worse than the crime, so maybe that's why Alex Sink's gaffe in Monday's gubernatorial debate drew so much attention.

In the final analysis, Sink breaking debate rules by looking at an aide's text message was such a minor transgression that I don't know why she didn't immediately admit it and move on. She could have apologized and then told Rick Scott that she could admit to her mistakes instead of pleading the fifth. ...

The Jim Norman state Senate debacle would have turned out so differently if the Democrats had a viable candidate in the race. In fact, I think the Republicans would have forced Norman to drop his appeal if polling indicated he stood to lose to a Democrat.

Sure, the Dems couldn't have known the race in the GOP-leaning district in north Hillsborough and central Pasco would turn into a fiasco, but they should have someone in every race.
