Cyberstalking case against Colson closed

Prosecutors on Tuesday closed an investigation into cyberstalking accusations against Pasco County Commission candidate Clay Colson, declining to file charges against the Land O'Lakes community activist. A member of Colson's church had told Tarpon Springs Police that she had found some of Colson's e-mails to her threatening. Colson said that had never been his intention. Colson is running in the District 2 race as a no-party candidate against incumbent Pat Mulieri.

Did beverages sicken deputies?

Five jail deputies became ill after drinking milk or juice that might have been contaminated by vapors from a concrete sealant used on a cooler floor at the Land O'Lakes jail, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. One detention deputy called in sick two days in a row after drinking milk during his shift on Oct. 22 — the day workers began applying Ultracrete Siliconized Solvent Acrylic Semi-Transparent Concrete Stain, a product that contains Xylene — on the cooler floor, a jail document states. Deputies and inmates noted food in an adjoining cooler smelled of paint and chemicals and was taken out of service. Worker's Compensation documentation was filled out for the five deputies who became ill, although "at this point, we cannot determine if the reported illnesses are coincidental or as a result of the paint fumes," Maj. Brian Head wrote in a memo.

No contest plea in fraud at car dealer

A former car dealership manager accused of pocketing almost $1,400 worth of customer refund checks pleaded no contest in court Thursday and was sentenced to probation. Keith Arthur Koslow, 47, took 14 checks that were supposed to go to customers of JC Automax who had overpaid on their vehicle registration, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said. The thefts happened from October 2009 to February involving the dealership on U.S. 41 in Land O'Lakes, the report said. Koslow was arrested in March. Koslow, of 5642 Sheer Bliss Loop in Land O'Lakes, pleaded no contest to a scheme to defraud charge and must serve 24 months of probation.
