Heavy rains that soaked the Tampa Bay area this weekend are expected to continue through Tuesday.

A flood warning for the Alafia River near Lithia in Hillsborough County went into effect Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists said there was a good chance of street and localized flooding throughout the day.

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 80s and lower 90s, according to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez.

Parts of eastern Hillsborough saw as much as 6 inches of rain Sunday. Brandon had 4.36 inches, Marquez said. Plant City had the next-highest total with 2.58 inches, she said.

Tampa received 1.27 inches, and St. Petersburg had 0.81.
