GRADUATES IN HEALTH CARE SUPERVISION: Oak Hill Hospital has graduated its newest introductory health care supervision class. The course was designed and taught by Mickey Smith, the hospital’s chief executive. Humana, Florida's largest Medicare health benefits company, is expanding its presence with a new MarketPoint office at 4314 Commercial Way, Spring Hill.

The office is staffed by Humana sales and administrative associates who are able to provide guidance and service to members and prospective members. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Old Navy, 7211 Coastal Way, Spring Hill, is partnering with two local agencies on Thursday.

First, customers who donate a new, unwrapped toy between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday will receive an Old Navy appreciation card for $5 to be used in the store. All toys collected will benefit the Hernando County Sheriff's Office's holiday toy drive for local children.

In addition, the LifeSouth Community Blood Center bloodmobile will be on site from 2 to 7 p.m. All donors will receive a Harry Potter T-shirt, compliments of Old Navy.

Volunteer role models are needed for Diploma-See, an eighth-grade initiative that inspires students to stay in school and teaches them the economics of success.

Two training sessions provided by Junior Achievement will be at 8:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. Friday at the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce office, 15588 Aviation Loop Drive, south of Brooksville.

The training includes a review of the curriculum and activities, as well as suggestions for the most effective presentation of the material and teaching tips.

The Diploma-See program will be conducted in all eighth-grade classrooms at Parrott Middle School, 19920 Youth Drive, Brooksville, on Dec. 3.

Hernando County Jazzercise centers will offer free classes to any member of the military and/or his or her spouse during November.

Members of the military or their immediate family members can stop in before any class, show their military ID and sign up for classes.

Who's news

N. Scott Howell, a doctor of osteopathy with Access Health Care, recently gave three lectures and was on two expert panel discussions at the American College of Phlebology's annual congress in Orlando.

Howell also served as moderator for a symposium, "Contemporary Aesthetics." He continues to serve on the professional educational committee for the college, where he has been a member for six years.

County Line Cafe, 120 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, will raise money for the Rossman family beginning at 7 a.m. today.

Delaney Rossman, one of 5-year-old triplets from Hudson, died last week when a neighbor's car went out of control and struck children playing in a yard. Her sister, Gabrielle, was seriously injured. The triplets' grandmother and aunt are servers at the restaurant.

The event will include a bake sale as well as jewelry and holiday gift sales, raffles, silent auction and music provided by Tommy Johnson from 4 to 9 p.m.

The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce will have its November membership breakfast meeting Wednesday at Silverthorn Country Club, 4550 Golf Course Lane, Spring Hill. Networking and business card exchange begin at 7:15 a.m.; the program begins at 7:45 a.m.

This month's sponsor is Wilson Technology. The program will be "Thanks for Giving," recognizing men and women in the armed forces. Those attending are asked to bring a nonperishable food item that will be donated to a local charity.

The speaker will be Linda Rothenberg, a teacher at Westside Elementary School, who after receiving a grant from Southwest Florida Water Management, began teaching her students the benefits of growing aquaponic gardens.

The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce East Side Committee will sponsor the third annual Light Up Ridge Manor Christmas Festival from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Sunrise Plaza on Cortez Boulevard in Ridge Manor West.

The event is free for vendors and people attending. The vendor registration deadline is Nov. 29. Completed registration forms may be obtained and dropped off at any of the following Ridge Manor locations: SunTrust Bank, Microtel Inn & Suites and Days Inn.

The event will feature Santa Claus, Christmas carolers, a bookmobile, a cake walk, children's games and activities, raffles, prizes, clowns and music provided by DJ Bob Pepe.

WWJB-AM 1450 will broadcast live. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit Jericho Road Ministries.

Included in the festivities will be a business decorating contest. The entry deadline for the contest is Friday. Applications may be picked up at the above locations. The winner will be announced at 6 p.m. during the festival.
