TAMPA — Less than an hour after a fire at a Busch Boulevard storage facility was extinguished, crews were on the scene of another blaze, this time at an east Tampa duplex.
At 11:49 a.m., firefighters arrived to 1204 E Yukon St and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the single-story duplex.
The fire was under control in 20 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
An investigator with the Tampa Fire Marshal's Office determined the resident of Apartment A, 23-year-old Christina Robles left on a clip on lamp before leaving at 10:30 a.m. It seemed the appliance got hot and fell onto a pile of clothing igniting a fire in the bedroom, fire rescue said.
Most of the damage — estimated at $30,000 — was limited to a apartment A. The second unit had some smoke damage.
