FSU student has another shot at 'Jeopardy!' win
Lea Tottle, an Oldsmar native and 2008 graduate of Palm Harbor University High School's International Baccalaureate program, is advancing to the semifinals on the Jeopardy! two-week College Championship. She will appear Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. on WFTS-Ch. 28. Tottle, 20, came in second during her first round of competition, but her high score earned her a wild-card slot — and a second chance to win the $100,000 grand prize. If she wins Wednesday, she advances to the Thursday and Friday finals. The junior at Florida State University is one of 15 students selected from thousands around the country to appear in the tournament.

Relay for Life will kick off Monday
The kick-off party for Relay for Life of Clearwater will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the Greektown Grille, 1230 Cleveland St. The party will serve as a pep rally for the spring event and provide more information on fundraising efforts. Relay for Life, a volunteer project for the American Cancer Society, is held in cities across the country. It is driven by community members who come together to fight cancer, celebrate the lives of those who have successfully battled cancer, and remember the loved ones who have been lost to the disease. Teens can help out at Humane Society
Registration is under way for a teen information session scheduled for Dec. 4 to let students from 16 to 18 years old know about the volunteer positions available at the Humane Society of Pinellas, 3040 State Road 590. Horseshoe pit open at activity center
A regulation horseshoe pit designed and constructed by Eagle Scout candidate William Ward at the Palm Harbor Community Activity Center, 1500 16th St., is open to the public for free use. Ward, a senior at Palm Harbor University High School, with the help of several other scouts, constructed the pit to meet official specifications determined by the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association of America. Horseshoes are available at the center during normal operating hours. Those using their own shoes can access the pit from sunrise to sunset.
