HUDSON — A 35-year-old father and his two young children were seriously injured by a fiery explosion in a burn pit at their home Saturday night, deputies said.
Pasco County sheriff's deputies said a 7-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy suffered second-degree burns while the father suffered second and third-degree burns. The burns are not considered life-threatening, deputies said. All the victims were flown to Tampa General Hospital for treatment.
It happened at about 7 p.m. at 14108 Pimberton Drive, deputies said. According to sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll, "The father was burning something in a burn pit on the lanai of the home when he supposedly put gas on the fire and it exploded."
