Free event will feature Santa, entertainment
The third annual "Miracle on Cleveland Street" will be Friday in downtown Clearwater. The free event, which runs from 5:30 to 10 p.m., will feature two giant snow slides, a visit from Santa Claus, entertainment from Busch Gardens, carolers, vendors, beer, wine and nonalcoholic beverages. Live music will be headlined by country singer Danielle Peck. The city's annual tree-lighting ceremony and wreath decorating contest will also take place. Hibbard appointed to state task force
Mayor Frank Hibbard has been appointed to a municipal task force that will develop a slate of recommendations to be presented to newly elected Gov. Rick Scott. The Florida League of Cities task force will recommend policies intended to promote local self-governance, remove barriers to municipal prosperity and spur the economic vitality of cities as incubators of progress. Hibbard will join 40 other Florida mayors in the task force.
Former Buc will be guest at meeting
Ryan Nece, former player with the Tampa Bay Bucs and Detroit Lions and now a sideline reporter for the United Football League on the Versus Network, will be the guest speaker at a meeting of the Clearwater Young Professionals. The meeting will be at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Marriott Residence Inn, 940 Court St., Clearwater. Tickets on sale for Handel's 'Messiah'
Tickets are on sale for Handel's Messiah, performed by the choirs and orchestra of Clearwater Christian College. Under the direction of Dr. Philip Golson, performances will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the Arts Auditorium of St. Petersburg College, 2465 Drew St., Clearwater.
