TAMPA — An 18-year-old Tampa man is accused of murder after police said he caused another man to crash into a light pole.
Police said Luis Pierre Jr. jumped into 38-year-old Forrest Jerome Cooper's Hyundai after a fight at Aliana Meat Market, 4016 N 22nd St., on Oct. 26.
He started beating Cooper as he drove away, causing him to lose control and strike a light pole, police said.
Pierre was arrested at his home, 7814 N Mulberry St. He was being held without bail Thursday.
Police said a 2 1/2 year old girl and teenage boy were in the car at the time of the crash. The girl was treated at Tampa General Hospital.
Police said the details of the fight were still being investigated.
Besides first-degree murder, Pierre also faces two charges of culpable negligence and one charge of burglary, according to jail records.
