SPRING HILL — The first day of school ended in arrest for an 11-year-old Spring Hill boy after he pulled a knife on a female classmate at Challenger K-8 School of Science and Mathematics, authorities say.

The boy and girl were in PE class Monday when they started arguing, according to a Hernando Sheriff's Office report. The boy, who is not being identified because of his age, pulled a small black pocketknife from his pocket, opened it and pointed it at the girl, asking her, "Would you like your neck sliced?" the report states.

The girl, whose age was not noted in the report, told authorities the knife was about 10 to 12 inches from her before she fled and reported the incident to a teacher.

The boy admitted to bringing the knife to school and pointing it at the girl. He was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon on school property. He was taken to the Hernando County Jail and released to his parents.
