Police seek toy donations to give to kids
The Tarpon Springs Police Department is asking for help in making wishes come true. The department wants to provide gifts to children whose families are having difficult times. The community is asked to donate new unwrapped gifts to recipients, from infants through their teen years. Cash donations are also accepted. Checks should be made payable to: Tarpon Springs Police Department Cops/Kids Program. Drop off the donations by Dec. 22. Donations may be dropped off at the Tarpon Springs Police Department, 444 S Huey Ave. For more information, call (727) 938-2849.
Traffic changes during procession
Traffic in downtown Tarpon Springs will be delayed or detoured from 8:15 to 9 p.m. Sunday due to the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Vespers service and procession. The procession will leave the church, located at 36 N Pinellas Ave., travel east on Orange Street, south on Safford Avenue, then west on Tarpon Avenue. Police say Pinellas Avenue traffic will be detoured west on Tarpon Avenue, and Tarpon Avenue traffic will be detoured north and south on Ring Avenue. Free winter concert Sunday

Birding program has spots for kids
The Clearwater Audubon Society has put together a birding program for kids 11-13 years old. The group will hold five classes, offered from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on a Saturday morning once a month. Meetings will be at Moccasin Lake Nature Park and other local birding spots. Audubon programs are free and open to the public. Participants must register for this class by Jan. 8. Get a gift wrapped and keep on giving
Beginning Dec. 11, LIADO, the Italian-American Women of Today, will wrap holiday purchases from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 23654 U.S. 19 S, Clearwater. Proceeds will benefit St. Joseph's Children's Cancer Research Center, Paul B. Stevens School for Autistic and Special Needs Children and the LIADO Scholarship Program. Donations will be accepted.
