SHADY HILLS — A 23-month old boy was found at the bottom of an in-ground pool Friday afternoon in northwest Pasco County.
Preliminary information indicates that the child's grandmother was watching a number of children at 15631 Little Ranch Road when she fell asleep, said Kevin Doll, spokesman for the Pasco Sheriff's Office.
A 3-year-old girl woke the grandmother to tell her that the boy had fallen in the pool. She was unable to find the child and called the child's father on the phone. He came home, jumped in the pool and found the child, Doll said.
The child was alive when transported by helicopter to a hospital shortly after 3 p.m. He may have been in the pool for up to five minutes, Doll said.
