A car sits in a ditch off Ulmerton Road east of Belcher after a two car accident Friday afternoon.

LARGO — A three-car wreck Friday has left a pregnant woman injured and shutdown all traffic on eastbound Ulmerton Road, according to Largo police.

That side of Ulmerton is expected to remain closed for several hours, police said, until as late as 8 to 8:30 p.m. Motorists should avoid the area until further notice.

According to police, the crash occurred around 3 p.m. in the 7500 block of Ulmerton Road just east of the Belcher Road intersection.

A blue Camry was making a U-turn from westbound Ulmerton into the opposite lanes, police said, when it was struck by two eastbound vehicles. A green minivan grazed the Camry, police said, then it was T-boned by an oncoming Ford Explorer.

There were two adults in each vehicle, police said. Five of the occupants are being treated for minor injuries. But a pregnant passenger in the Camry was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

She was declared a "trauma alert," a designation indicating that she may have serious injuries and may be in need of immediate medical attention. Police did not release any details about her condition or identify anyone involved in the crash.

Investigators are now on scene looking into the incident.
