ST. PETERSBURG — A St. Petersburg man is accused of crashing into a police car after pulling out of a bar where had been drinking late Tuesday night, police said.
No one was seriously injured.
Police said officer Matthew Kirchgraber, 23, was driving north on 4th Stree in the median lane when 36-year-old Steven David Helms pulled out of Brandy's Lounge, 7220 4th Street North, and collided with his vehicle.
The front right portion of Helm's vehicle hit Kirchgraber's driver's side door. Both vehicles spun and came to a rest in the northbound lanes of Fourth Street, police said.
Helms was arrested and faces a charge of driving under the influence with property damage.
Helms refused a Breathalyzer test, police said.
