Allen R. Brinkman, a 17-year banker with Wachovia Bank, has been named chairman, president and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Tampa Bay. He succeeds Dan Mahurin, who served 12 years in that role, and has since been promoted to SunTrust Gulf Coast/North Florida Division president and CEO, responsible for overseeing SunTrust's Tampa Bay, North Florida and Southwest Florida banks. Mahurin said he will continue his work with the Tampa Bay Partnership and its One Bay initiative, charged with developing a regional vision for the future of the metro area. Brinkman, so far, has joined the executive committee of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp. SunTrust is headquartered in Atlanta. Its bank in Tampa Bay employs about 1,000 and has 115 locations.
