Woman warns fiance before slashing his throat, deputies say

ZEPHYRHILLS — The former college librarian grabbed a knife that was on the bureau — 7-inch blade, military style bayonet — and held it to her fiance's throat.

"If you don't walk away, I'm gonna cut your throat," Colleen Rae Alair-White, 49, told Colin Mallett, 50, at their mobile home on Brisk Drive just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

"Don't," Mallett pleaded, a report states. "Stop.

"Please calm down."

She sliced his throat, deputies said, then went into their bathroom as he bled. She then swallowed enough prescription pills to put her into an intensive care unit.

It took 20 stitches to close Mallett's wound, which stretched from below his left ear to his Adam's apple. He was treated and released Tuesday, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.
