MORE THAN 260 APPLY TO ADOPT 63 Shih Tzus
There is a big demand for the 63 little dogs found abandoned near Brooksville last month. Hernando County Animal Services has received more than 260 applications from people seeking to adopt one of the Shih Tzus and has closed the application period, county officials announced Friday. All applicants will be contacted by phone with more information on the adoption process. The dogs are suffering from a host of health issues and are still being evaluated by veterinarians, sterilized and vaccinated. Officials said they are hopeful that applicants who aren't able to adopt a Shih Tzu will come to the shelter at 19450 Oliver St. to look at other dogs available for adoption.
